GCSE French

 

French GCSE consolidates and develops the linguistic skills and knowledge acquired at KS3. We currently follow the WJEC GCSE Specification which aims to:  

  • develop understanding of the language in a variety of contexts
  • develop knowledge of the language and language learning skills
  • develop the ability to communicate effectively in the language
  • develop awareness and understanding of countries and communities where the language is spoken.

CURRENT SPECIFICATION:

The content of the current specification (for pupils being examined in 2010) covers the following broad contexts:

1.       Everyday activities

2.       Personal and social life

3.       The world around us

4.       The world of work

5.       The international world

The weighting of assessment objectives across current examination components is as follows:

Unit 1

Listening (exam)

25%

Unit 2

Speaking (exam)

25%

Unit 3

Reading (exam)

25%

Unit 4

Writing (coursework)

25%

Total weighting:          75% exam           25% coursework                           Total 100%

 

NEW SPECIFICATION:
