For children in year six, the homework arrangements are the same as for year five, although the commitment in time will be increased slightly. Pupils are taught by separate subject teachers and will usually be given work in two subjects each night. Each piece of work should take about 30 minutes to complete. These tasks are, as in previous years, written down in their planners. Homework tasks will help to develop greater skills in working independently and in organising workloads. These skills should then be firmly in place for the important move the following year to senior school education.
