When children reach years five and six, their homework arrangements are a little different.
They are taught by separate subject teachers and will usually be given work in two subjects each night. Each piece of work should take about 25 minutes to complete. These tasks are, as in years three and four, written down in their planners. Homework tasks will help to develop greater skills in working independently and in organising workloads. These skills should then be firmly in place for the important move to senior school education.
