When pupils move to the Junior School, it is time to really build on what they have learned lower down the school to help them stride ahead, to gather speed and make rapid progress.
Adding to the essential blocks of reading, writing and numeracy are other subjects such as science, history and geography.
Home for the Juniors is Llantarnam Hall. It is friendly and relaxed-just the place to introduce a more varied education.
Competition, always healthy of course, is introduced, with an emphasis on house events that foster team work and a competitive spirit. Pupils are also introduced to responsiblity and may become house captains, prefects and monitors.
The Juniors are in the enviable position of being the middle school and have contact with both the Senior and Infants' schools.
We introduce specialist teaching to build pupils' learning and they have access to a wide range of practical lessons, which prepare them for the next stage in their learning journey, which is the Senior School.
Themed events help pupils to learn, with National Science Week, World Book Day and Healthy Lifestyle Week built into the educational calendar, to assist with their all-round development and independent thinking.
We encourage pupils to participate in extra-curricular activities and develop their interests to the full. One thing not to be missed are the Junior School productions - they are the stuff of legend!
