Each year for ‘Fairtrade Week’ a new theme is promoted nationally. This year the theme is ‘Footsteps’. We as a school are encouraging all the children to think of how we can step forward in promoting and using fairtrade products. Each child will receive a piece of card on which we ask they draw around their foot – decorate and write (parental help may be necessary!) how they can help Fairtrade promotion. These pledges will then be displayed around school. We have also taken on board the 90Kg Rice Challenge. 90Kg of rice being equivalent to the cost for a farmer in Milawi, to send a child to school for a year. We will be selling the rice at £2.70 a bag. With your support ‘The Rougemont School Footstep’ will help Fairtrade farmers send their children to school for a year.
